Trust me on this one. You can buy a graphics tablet for between £20-30. I use the TRUST version. Do a Google search and I’m sure that Play.com have them. I bought two from ASDA at £21 each a while ago. The tablet means that I can look at my students while I’m doing the bizz.. I don’t have my back to them .. and shadows aren’t a problem anymore. When I went into a classroom I’d look for the IWB wand … if it wasn’t there (as has happened so many times ) I went next door looking for one … or the batteries in the one I’d lifted had expired .. and as I teach night classes there was no-one around to help.
So now I bring my tablet, a spare battery or two and do my best … it’s just as well ‘cos in one campus the rooms have ONLY IWB’s … no wand .. and no regular boards to write on …the OHP’s have been removed and chalk is a thing of the past … I won’t even go into the limit on my photocopying card ’cos that would really annoy you….. and I teach Maths. Cheers and be good . Eddie
Don’t you need to install drivers to use a tablet? Our college ICT people are, shall we say, less than prompt about getting things like that done…

I know what you mean… but we may have an argument with ICT staff about what sort of materials are a priority for learning … things which are helpful for teaching and learning .. and the many uses of ICT staff for management databases .. bout time we stood up for our educational needs …Eddie .. probably once you indicated to the ETI that you nhave intended to use a graphics pad but had to wait too long for the software to be installed … things may move a little faster … pity to admit it seems likely … what can I say about the current situation in FE ????Ed
